My memories of Agnes are many but the one that stands out is her loving caring nature. Ever since I can remember she took care of her 7 younger siblings, cooking, cleaning and helping her mom looking after all of us. She never complained or resented the huge responsibility placed on her. I cannot recall even one instance where she got angry at any of us. She was our big sister and she catered to all our needs. As soon as she got home from school or work she rolled up her sleeves and went straight to work on her second job at home. She loved cooking and this passion carried on through her entire life. Everyone in our neighbourhood in Calcutta, India knew about this nice, hard working and family oriented Chinese girl who would make a good wife and mother for any fortunate man who marries her. Believe me, many match makers have tried but were not successful. Another talent that many of us are not aware of that Agnes possess is her gift of creating nicknames for anyone and everyone. It's amazing how she comes up with these amazing names that are totally befitting and appropriate for the person and unfortunately, some of us are stuck with them for life. She always had a positive outlook on things and always had a happy smile on her face. She will be fondly remembered forever by all of us.
